Feline Friday

From last weekend, an alert and happy Church and Snowball:

Alert Kittens by Josh Poulson

Five days later, the day before before Snowball went into the vet:

Sick Snowball by Josh Poulson

Snowball is still at the vet, getting IV fluids and Nutrical, and will be getting X-rays and blood work today.

Update: Snowball passed away today. Most likely cause was FIP. We told the vet to go ahead and test for a cause, but it's pretty depressing to lose such a cute cat.

Church sometimes wanders around the house looking for a white puffball on which to pounce. Depressing, really.

So sorry about Snowball. I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful pure white cat and those eyes. Is the vet wanting to test Church? The test for FIP has a lot of false positives and even if positive does not mean they will have symptoms. I hope they find the answer for you.

I am so sorry to hear that. I lost my precious Tigger last December. It's been almost a year and I still miss her.

I am soooo sorry about the passing of Snowball. I check your page every week that it is on the Modulator and I have always enjoyed seeing what your black and white kitties are up to. I will be very sad to not see Snowball anymore. I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for giving Snowball such a wonderful life, even though it was too short.

Church has been immunized as much as possible (got his boosters the same time Snowball was brought in), but the vet hasn't asked about a FIP test. I suspect once the autopsy results come in, we'll know if there's something that needs to be done.

Church acts healthy, is plenty big, and doesn't seem to be lacking in energy. I'm not worried about him at the moment.

I'm sure I will be suffering for now taking Snowball in earlier. or two days Misty had been saying that she thought something was wrong with her. I guess she was right.

If it was FIP, Snowball would likely have picked it up long before we got her, and probably was smaller than her brother because of it. As she tracked down the relentless path of the virus, the difference between the two became more pronounced. Gradually she slept more, played less, gained less weight, ate less food, and started hiding. I've seen cats do that plenty and have no problems, so I was blindsided.

She was such a lovely kitty. And Church looks so protective. Are you planning to get him a new companion soon?
